GMO Detect: BT Cry 1 Ab/Ac

Bacillus Thurigiensis Cry 1 Ab/Ac Protein (Insect Resistant)

The Artron GMO Detect Rapid Test Kit for Cry 1 Ab/Ac is used to determine the presence of the Cry1Ab/Ac BT endotoxins in genetically modified organisms. BT Cry1 is a gene found in Bacillus thuringiensis, a gram-positive bacterium that produces a toxin that can be utilized as a pesticide. The gene BT Cry1 encodes the protein that is toxic to insects. When expressed and produced in crops such as corn, it acts as a built-in insecticide for the plants. Due to the protein’s toxic nature, there are concerns that this gene will have a negative impact on the consumer’s health.

With a limit of detection of 2ng/mL (or 1 in 200 kernels), our test kit is suitable for testing both leaf tissue and seeds of corn, cotton, and other crops. It is available in both a strip and cassette form. For instructions on how to use our product, click here. GMO Detect: C4 EPSPS

Round Up Ready CP4 EPSPS Protein (Herbicide Resistant)

The Artron GMO Detect CP4 EPSPS Rapid Test Kit is intended to determine if the protein CP4 EPSPS is present in genetically modified organisms. EPSPS, or 5-enolpyruvyl-shikimate synthase, is an enzyme that catalyzes a reaction in plant and bacterial cells that is necessary for the synthesis of some amino acids. The herbicide, Roundup (glyphosate), can bind to the EPSPS enzyme made in plants and block its ability to work. This causes the plant to run out of amino acids which halts growth and development. The plant will eventually die from starvation. Roundup is a non-selective systemic herbicide which means it injures and often kills most plants that come in contact with it. CP4 EPSPS is the protein introduced by genetic manipulation that is expressed in glyphosate-tolerant soybeans and are being developed to provide new weed-control options for farmers. Expression of this protein in plants imparts high levels of glyphosate tolerance. The safety of CP4 EPSPS was ascertained by evaluating both physical and functional characteristics. CP4 EPSPS readily degrades in simulated gastric and intestinal fluids, suggesting that this protein will be degraded in the mammalian digestive tract upon ingestion as a component of food or feed.

With a limit of detection of 2 ng/mL (or 1 in 1000 kernels), our test kit is suitable for testing both leaf tissue and seeds of corn, cotton, and other crops. GMO Detect: PHY

Phytase (GMO-Corn)

The Artron GMO Detect Rapid Test Kit for Phytase is intended to determine the presence of Phytase in genetically modified organisms. Phytase is currently used as an additive in animal feed to breakdown phytic acid in corn, which holds 60% of the phosphorus in corn. Phytase increases phosphorus absorption in animals by 60%. Phosphorus is an essential element for the growth and development of all animals, and plays a key role in skeletal structures and vital metabolic pathways. Phytase, as an additive for animal feed, is mandatory in Europe, Southeast Asia, South Korea, Japan, and other regions for environmental purposes. Phytase transgenic corn, developed by and licensed from Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science (CAAS) after a 7 year study, will allow animal feed producers the ability to eliminate purchasing phytase and corn separately. It will eliminate the need for mixing the two ingredients together, saving time, machinery, and labor for the animal feed producers.

With a limit of detection of 2 ng/mL (or 1 in 1000 kernels), our test kit is suitable for testing both leaf tissue and seeds of corn, cotton, and other crops. It is available in both a strip and cassette form. For instructions on how to use our product, click here. GMO Detect: PHY-G

High Gloycosylated Phytase Test

The Artron GMO Detect Rapid Test Kit for Phytase (highly glycosylated) is intended to determine the presence of the highly glycosylated recombinant phytase  from Asperillus Niger (expressed in Pichis Pastoris). With a limit of detection of 2 ng/mL (or 1 in 1000 kernels), our test kit is suitable for testing the culture medium containing the recombinant phytase directly. It is available in both a strip and cassette form. For instructions on how to use our product, click here.
